Dima Sabanin

I’m 27 years old, married and have a child. I’ve been programming since 5th grade and that’s my real passion. Started with Basic, C, C++, then Visual Basic, Visual C, moved on to PHP which somewhat helped me to earn money when I was in university.

Then I decided to go for a more powerful language and out of Python and Ruby I picked Ruby, which at that time was not hugely popular. I’ve been using Ruby for commercial web development and even had my own web framework. When Rails came out, I abandoned my framework and became an active Rails developer.
These days I’m looking for something new, teaching myself Smalltalk and Common Lisp. So far I’m in love with Lisp and see it as my new language of choice.

I use only UNIX OSes for since 1998. Linux, BSD, Mac OS X. Since 2003 I’m a Mac guy.

I’m studying Chan buddhism and Shaolin kung fu. Thanks to my father, a great man, I also have a degree in psychology which I never used except on my family :) I’m also an amateur piano player.
